Thursday 21st October – an evening with Roy Beal.

Come and join CJC founder Roy as he talks about his recent Top Down Kayak Challenge.

Listen to the highs and lows he went through as he paddled for 56 days from John O’Groats to Land’s End, wild camping along the way. During this self supported trip, he raised awareness about the effects of plastic in the marine environment and promoted paddlesport safety as he dealt with poor weather, fatigue, broken tents and a heatwave.

Proceeds from the ticket sales go to Clean Jurassic Coast and West Bay Discovery Centre.

Location – Salt House at West Bay

Sunday October 24th – a coastal path clean up!

Do you fancy a bit of a stroll? How about one with fabulous sea views, lots of history and a pirate graveyard?

Described as a ‘Moderate’ walk on the South West Coast Path website, this is a roughly ten mile route so please only join us if you are sure you are able to walk it.

Meeting at the Masonic Car Park on the edge of Portland, we will litter pick our way around the Isle in a clockwise direction along the coast path. There will be some steep hills and occasional rough, possibly muddy, ground but there will also be a cafe near the finish – very important and I can recommend their hot chocolate.

At a leisurely pace, this may take 5 or 6 hours so please ensure you bring food and drink as we will stop for lunch along the way. Make sure you are wearing suitable footwear and clothes and don’t forget to bring humour and a smile!

Clean Jurassic Coast will, of course, supply litter pickers bags and sanitiser – please bring your own gloves if you wish.

Please book via the Eventbrite link below, it is free, and you will find a Google pin for the car park.

Here is a link to the route via Ordnance Survey maps https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/10100822/Portland-Litter-Pick

There are toilet facilities at Portland Bill and Quiddells Cafe.

Meeting at 10.00am for a 10.30am start at the Masonic Car Park (details with ticket)

Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries.

NOTES:

  1. The event is subject to weather and ground conditions. Clean Jurassic Coast reserve the right to cancel, postpone or change this event at any time.
