The October half-term had the Clean Jurassic Coast team hosting and co-hosting various events.
Starting with a 10-mile coastal walk around Portland where 21 volunteers litter picked their way around the Jurassic Coast isle in sideways rain and high winds. Many of us found the limit of our waterproofs but together, many bags of litter were removed from this section of the South West Coast Path.
Thursday was ‘Meet a Mermaid’ day with CJC’s very own Mermaid Taurva. Working with the West Bay Discovery Centre, children and parents were queuing out of the door to have their faces painted (with eco products), listen to fishy stories and beach clean the sandy West Bay beach. We will return!
Friday’s Beach Clean Bingo with Plastic Free Exmouth was a day of two halves. The morning event was popular as there was a break in the rainy weather but the afternoon one was cancelled due to low numbers and a poor weather forecast. Families turned up and together they litter picked the beach ticking off a list of plastics from a ‘bingo’ list, including bottle tops, wet wipes and nurdles.
